Our Elusive Self…

On the other side of the veiled window

Another parallel time moves within the

Realm of tomorrow. From gilded persimmon

Dawn until blazing sunset; a place where the

Individual eye cannot see lives the selves

Of our future. Deep in the darkness of yesterday

Look back as they can only remember yesterday.

These individuals shrouded in the memories of the

Past, with the bodies of today and the minds of

Speculation floats through time.

We move from the non-existence into the now when

The veil lifts on our tomorrows; we walk, run or hide from

The future. In desperation we want to return to the past;

Take a trip back into a time that we know, to relive, to enjoy,

Or to change; the today as too soon it becomes yesterday.

Anxiety builds today as we struggle to live within the now

While being hopeful of tomorrow

The Future. Such is life, the perception that we could

Change yesterday, the making sense of living in the now,

And the imagination of what will come tomorrow? It is all

Beyond reality, a parable of abstract dreams from which we

Wake to find that yesterday will not return and today is the only

Time we have and tomorrow are only a promise that may or may

Not come within our grasp.

Excellent poem… These verses truly resonated with me:
” Individual eye cannot see lives the selves
Of our future. Deep in the darkness of yesterday
Look back as they can only remember yesterday”.
Thanks for sharing!… All my best wishes. Aquileana 😀

    ” From gilded persimmon

Dawn…”…Beautiful visual. Your words are like gems, I want to take them and turn them over and around contemplating how far into their facets they will pull me. Your poem is food for the mind and soul. Thank you for sharing this.
